Nigerian officials expand Ramadan welfare initiatives

In Nigeria, state officials, churches and community groups are distributing cash and food to households and Islamic schools during Ramadan across states such as Kebbi, Kaduna and Kwara. In the Gulf, the UAE Food Bank and churches in Kuwait are organizing millions of meals and charity drives to support low‑income residents during the fasting month. Commentators in Muslim‑majority countries are also using Ramadan to call for peace, compassion and reflection on social inequality.
